The U’s made a terrific start to the season by winning six and drawing one of their first seven games in all competitions, but they will make the trip to north Kent having lost their last three.

United sit sixth in the Ryman Football League Division One South table with 16 points from eight matches and are only three points behind second-placed Crawley Down Gatwick with a game in hand.

John Maggs’s side is two points and two places above tonight’s opponents. No side in the division has lost fewer matches than Herne Bay, while no team has conceded fewer goals than United.

Andy Henson is set to miss out for United after damaging ankle ligaments in the weekend defeat at Merstham, while Herne Bay may give a debut to Stuart King, a new signing from Folkestone Invicta. Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Elsewhere tonight, Little Common will host Eastbourne United AFC in a clash of two sides likely to be battling it out at the top end of Sussex County Football League Division Two this season.

Common are currently in second place with 15 points from seven games, while Eastbourne - who won away to Herne Bay in the FA Cup - are fifth with 12 from five.

It should be an entertaining affair as the two sides have scored 45 league goals between them already this term. Kick-off at the Recreation Ground is 7.30pm.
