Hastings United CEO Billy Wood made this statement in reply. He said: "The ongoing talks for the last year have been in regards to the new proposed Tilekiln Stadium complex and we was hoping to support Hollington in their own ambitions for growth.

"As the town's senior football club we feel it's our duty to look to support our local intermediate clubs and have had discussions with a few, especially as local facilities are sparse. In connection to this we gave Hollington & Westfield access to our 3G training facilities at no cost that are kindly provided by East Sussex College Hastings for our academy use.

"We had very brief negotiations with Hollington on a ground share of The Pilot Field to potentially aid them in their promotion push. It was evident we couldn't facilitate at the Pilot Field and we advised them of our decision.

"The option to look at this is always open."
