United set for league cup action

Jason Hopkinson will be gunning for his first win as Hastings United manager tonight (Tuesday).

The U’s will host Fleet Town in round four of the Ryman League Championship Manager Cup. Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Maidstone United has left Hastings fifth-from-bottom of the Premier Division, while Fleet are 17th in Division One South.

Hopkinson made five changes to his starting line-up on Saturday and more are likely tonight as he seeks to discover a winning formula.

Elsewhere, a home tie against Brighton & Hove Albion is up for grabs as Sidley United host fellow Sussex County League Division One outfit Arundel in round two of the Sussex Senior Cup.

Terry Payne should return for the Blues after missing Saturday’s 2-1 win away to Chichester City, but Nick Whiteman is struggling through injury and Matt Dadswell is suspended. Kick-off at Gullivers is 7.45pm.

Finally, The Polegrove will stage a midweek floodlit game for the first time ever as the reserves of Bexhill United and Westfield go head-to-head under the new lights. Kick-off is 7.45pm.
