United seek instant reponse

Jason Hopkinson will have to rally his Hastings United players quickly.

There’s little time to dwell on the 5-0 thrashing at Bury Town on Saturday because United are back in action today (Monday) at home to Margate.

United’s opponents are in much the same boat, however, having lost 4-1 at home to Lowestoft Town in the Ryman Football League Premier Division on Saturday. Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 3pm.

Elsewhere today, the top two in Sussex County League Division One go head-to-head as Rye United travel to Peacehaven & Telscombe.

Rye will be without Josh Pelling, who turned an ankle against St Francis Rangers on Saturday, so Joe Winchester will play in goal. Shaun Loft will return to the starting line-up.

Sidley United go to Ringmer in the same division. Paddy Cody and Steve Morris are unavailable, but Marc Munday and Chris Rea will return, and Dan Cruikshank should be back from holiday. Lewis Hole and Scott McDonald are injury doubts.

Danny Ellis, Nathan Harding and Ross Markham will undergo fitness tests ahead of Bexhill United’s trip to Hailsham Town in Division Two.

The first local derby of the season will see Little Common entertain Westfield at Little Common Recreation Ground. All of the County League matches kick-off at 11am.
