United manager focused on Camara

Camara, who hails from the West African country of Guinea-Bissau, has been on the radar of Hastings player-manager Sean Ray for a number of weeks.

“He’s been my number one centre forward target for a while,” he said. “I’m hoping now Eastbourne have got a new manager (Tommy Widdrington) that we’ll be able to sort something out, but it all depends on what Eastbourne have said to him.

“If I can get him in, the crowd will love him,” Ray went on. “He’s big and strong and very much in the Ade (Olorunda) mould. He’ll definitely give us something we have been missing.”

Relegation-threatened Hastings have already put in a seven-day approach for Camara, who can also play in midfield, but face competition from Eastbourne Town.

“I’m really keen to get Camara here,” said Town boss Danny Bloor. “He trained with us before Christmas and he’s one that’s interested us for a while.”

Camara, who is thought to have played for a Portuguese third division club prior to arriving in Eastbourne, has been involved mainly with the reserves at Priory Lane but has looked lively for the front side when he has come off the substitutes’ bench.
