Treble dream is still in sight

The Quarterboys reached the final of the Sussex RUR Charity Cup with a 3-2 win over Three Bridges on Tuesday night - their fifth win in the last seven meetings with the Crawley club.

Rye are also top of Sussex County Football League Division One and they have a John O’Hara League Cup semi-final against Bridges next month.

Peacehaven & Telscombe are thought to be the only side to have won all three trophies in the same season. That was back in 1993 when they lost only one league game for the second season running.

It’s back to the league today (Saturday) and a visit from a bottom-of-the-table Chichester City side which has picked up just eight points from 25 league games so far.

Price will assess the fitness of Liam Upton, who came off injured during an excellent goalscoring display against Bridges. Match-winner Sean Kelly was also substituted and may not be risked.

Jack Franklin will probably start and Alfie Weller may well be in the squad. Shaun Loft and Duncan McArthur will sit out the final games of their respective suspensions.

All of the top five were victorious in the league last weekend so Rye remain six points ahead of second-placed Lancing having played one more game and 14 clear of fifth-placed Bridges having played six more matches.
