Garry Wilson says it’s been a good August for Hastings United Football Club, but warns a tough September lies ahead.

The U’s have won six of their eight matches so far this season in all competitions, including four out of six in Ryman Football League Division One South.

The games will continue to come thick and fast this month, with seven scheduled in total, including trips to leaders Folkestone Invicta and second-placed Dorking Wanderers.

“We’ve got to be pleased with the first month,” said United manager Wilson. “We’ve got off to a good start, but it’s only a start and this is a tough month.”

United are fifth in the table at present and bearing in mind some of those upcoming fixtures, Wilson says they really need to try and pick up three points at home to 19th-placed Carshalton Athletic tomorrow (Saturday).

After that they will head to Folkestone on Tuesday night, eager to atone for the 4-1 defeat at home to the same opponents just a fortnight previously.

“It will be a different game, different challenge and I don’t think we will be as open in the next game,” added Wilson.

Stephen Okoh has suffered a recurrence of a knee problem.
