Top scorer out of Thurrock clash

Hastings United are set to be without Bradley Goldberg for the visit of East Thurrock United tonight (Tuesday).

The 17-goal forward wrote on social network site Twitter yesterday that he expects to be out for a few weeks with the ankle injury sustained in Saturday’s 4-0 loss at Concord Rangers.

Tom Vickers and Danny Ellis are both fit and available, so United will nearly be at full strength in midfield. On loan goalkeeper Daniel East and striker Mikel Suarez are poised to make their home debuts.

United player-manager Sean Ray wrote on the club’s website: “I would like to ask all of our fans to keep supporting and encouraging the players, and to keep faith with us.

“It is easy to criticise when things are not going well, but we all need to stay strong and stay together, and the results will come.

“Please welcome Hugo (Langton, new first team coach), Mikel and Daniel to the club on Tuesday for their home debuts, and be as loud as possible for the players.”

United are third-from-bottom of the Ryman Football League Premier Division, while East Thurrock are mid-table. Although the Essex outfit won 4-0 in an FA Trophy tie between the clubs at the end of September, East Thurrock haven’t played a game since back on January 12.

Elsewhere tonight, Rye United take on fellow Sussex County League title hopefuls East Preston in a Sussex Senior Cup third round tie at Worthing FC. The winners will be away to Eastbourne Town or Loxwood in the quarter-finals.

Sidley United will be desperate to play only their second match since December 11 when they host Ringmer in Sussex Division One. The Hastings and Sidley games kick-off at 7.45pm, while the Rye match starts at 7.30pm.
