Sidley relishing Albion test

Sidley United will contest their biggest game for several seasons tonight (Wednesday).

The Blues will entertain Brighton & Hove Albion reserves in the last remaining Sussex Senior Cup third round tie to be resolved. Kick-off at Gullivers is 7.30pm.

Sidley will go into the match - which was postponed last month due to a waterlogged pitch - in good heart following three successive Sussex County League Division One victories.

But this will be a different kettle of fish entirely against the full-time professionals of Albion, who will no doubt be keen to reach the final as it will be the first match to be played at the club’s new Amex Stadium.

Jason Taylor is highly unlikely to be fit for Sidley after being stretchered off towards the end of Saturday’s 2-1 win over 10-man Wick, but Kevin Barden should be okay despite coming off in the same game.

Elsewhere tonight, Scott Price will face the difficult task of lifting his Rye United players after their FA Vase disappointment at the weekend for a Sussex Division One fixture at home to Shoreham.

Victory in a match which will finally get Rye to the midway point in their league programme will take them back into the top six, although they have several games in hand on everyone else.

Price will again shuffle his pack so forecasting what side he will select is tricky to say the least, although Scott Ramsay may be rested following his exertions against Kings Lynn Town. Kick-off at The Salts is 7.45pm.
