Rye rally to beat Worthing

Rye United maintained their title bid with another home victory on Saturday.

But the Quarterboys had to come from behind before winning 3-1 at home to Worthing United in Sussex County Football League Division One.

Sam Adams levelled from the penalty spot before half time and then put Rye ahead with a cracker into the top corner. A late header by Kenny Pogue sealed the points.

Sidley United were unable to do Rye a favour as they went down 2-0 at home to third-placed Three Bridges with both goals coming during the first half at Gullivers.

Casey Ham struck twice on his return to Bexhill United as they won 2-0 at home to third-placed Dorking Wanderers in Division Two – their fourth straight league win.

Westfield did their survival hopes the power of good with a 4-0 success at home to Wick. Gordon Cuddington bagged a hat-trick and David Pugh netted the other.

But Little Common remain deep in trouble on the back of a 5-1 reverse at home to Littlehampton Town despite an early goal from Linton Rogers.
