Rye handed Three Bridges clash

Rye United will begin their quest for FA Vase glory in 2011/12 at home to Three Bridges.

The Quarterboys will entertain their Sussex County Football League Division One rivals in the second round proper on Saturday November 19.

Rye have been exempt until the last 128 of the national competition as a result of reaching the last 32 in 2010/11. In fact, they went on to make the quarter-finals after winning through seven rounds - all away from home.

One of those victories came against Three Bridges in the third round proper last December. Luke Woodley came off the bench to score twice in extra-time as Rye triumphed 3-1 despite playing more than 80 minutes with 10 men.

Rye also won both league matches against Crawley-based Bridges last term, but lost to the same team in the John O’Hara League Challenge Cup final. Rye triumphed 3-0 at home to Bridges in the league last month.

Scott Price’s side lies second in the league with 31 points from 15 matches, while Bridges, who have won two home games to reach this stage in the Vase, are eighth with 21 from 11.
