Rye and Sidley triumph again

Sidley won 4-2 after extra-time at home to AFC Uckfield in FA Vase first round qualifying, while Rye cruised past Three Bridges 3-0 in Sussex County Football League Division One.

Two goals from Scott Ramsay - one in either half - and a second half blast from Sam Adams in Rye’s first home game of the season sent the Quarterboys back to the top of the table.

A Lewis Hole goal gave Sidley a 1-0 lead at half time, but a free kick from former Rye and Bexhill United player Chris Gould meant the scores were level after 90 minutes.

Drew Greenall put Uckfield ahead in the first period of extra-time only for Scott McDonald to strike twice and Jason Taylor once in the second period to put Sidley through despite Danny Spice suffering a serious ankle injury.

Bexhill United returned to winning ways in Division Two courtesy of a 3-2 success away to Storrington. Dominic Clarke scored a hat-trick to take his tally for the season to nine.

Little Common also picked up three points with a very good 2-1 win at Mile Oak thanks to first half goals from Jamie Crone and Ben Eldridge, but Westfield lost 1-0 away to Southwick.
