Ridgway returns to Westfield

Ben Ridgway has returned to Westfield Football Club.

The powerful centre-half played in a behind closed doors friendly against Hastings United on Wednesday night and will be involved in the Sussex County League Division Two game at home to Mile Oak on Saturday.

Westfield joint manager Tony Harris said: “Ben’s a decent centre-half and it will be a big help to get him.”

Ridgway stepped up to County League level with Westfield a few seasons back having previously played for East Sussex League outfit Bodiam. He later moved on to Rye United, but hasn’t featured for the Quarterboys since October.

His arrival couldn’t come at a better time for fifth-placed Westfield with Tom Archer’s troublesome knee not getting any better and stand-in central defender Jack Stapley away this weekend. Midfield enforcer James Gatcum is also away.
