Rangers celebrate title triumph

Sedlescombe Rangers clinched the Division One title on the final weekend of the ADA East Sussex Football League season.

Rangers needed a win at home to Orington to overhaul Battle Baptists - who had already finished their programme - and duly got it by a 3-0 margin. Rhys Warren, Graham Stovell and Luke Nisbet got the goals.

In the same division, Sandhurst went from rock-bottom to third-bottom without kicking a ball because Hollington United II failed to raise a side for the scheduled double header.

Hollington United’s first team preserved their unbeaten record in the Premier Division with a 4-1 success at home to Peche Hill Select. Cliff Macdonald (2), Alan Foster and Shane Ryan netted for Hollington, and Steve Johnson replied.

Crowhurst beat the drop in Division Two by winning 2-0 against Hawkhurst United thanks to Sean Hankinson and a 55-yard punt by Aaron Davis.

JC Tackleway lost 4-2 to Windsor despite leading 2-0 with 20 minutes left, while Liam Sayer bagged four goals as Wittersham thumped Ninfield United II 6-2. Jonjo Andrews and Danny Garcia-Cruz scored Wittersham’s others after Scott Carey and Richard Anderson put Ninfield 2-0 up.

Bexhill-On-Sea sealed the Division Four title with a hard-fought 2-0 win against Bexhill AAC. Brad Freeman and Liam Day were on target. Sedlescombe Rangers II were denied the Division Five runners-up spot by a 3-1 loss to Ticehurst II despite taking the lead through Lex Russell.

Charlie Morgan (2) and Jack Buckley earned Catsfield II a 3-0 win over JC Tackleway II and with it the Division Six title. Zac Fawcett netted a penalty for Battle Baptists III in a 1-1 draw against Parkfield.
