Quest for a win heads to Cray

Hastings United face another key game in their battle against the drop today (Saturday).

The U’s go to Cray Wanderers in the Ryman Football League Premier Division with both teams desperate for a victory to ease their relegation concerns.

United are third-from-bottom and without a league win since early November, while Cray are four places and seven points better off having played two more matches.

The teams fought out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture on January 22 after some sterling work from a handful of volunteers to clear snow off The Pilot Field pitch.

There have been a few changes in personnel at United over the past week with Sam Adams and Rory Murphy returning to the club, and Scott Manning, Mikel Suarez and Matt Whitehaad departing.

Elsewhere today, Rye United will host basement boys Worthing United and Sidley United will entertain Pagham in Sussex County League Division One. Bexhill United are at home to Rustington and Westfield welcome Midhurst & Easebourne to The Parish Field in Division Two.

Little Common travel to Littlehampton Town in a Division Two Challenge Cup quarter-final. All of the matches kick-off at 3pm apart from Westfield’s, which begins at 2.30pm.
