The Saints intend to field an adult side next season for the first time since the one-time Dr Martens League club ceased operating in February 2004.

They hope to be accepted into the upper echelons of the Macron East Sussex Football League.

Club chairman Tim Cowell said: “It’s amazing to have two of the most well-respected managers in our county come and be a part of the reformation of our great club. We are really excited by their arrival and see a great future working together.”

Price is best known for a highly successful four-and-a-half-year reign at Rye United during which the club achieved back-to-back top three finishes in Sussex County League Division One having previously won Division Two.

Rye also won the Sussex RUR Charity Cup, came runners-up in the John O’Hara League Challenge Cup and, most memorably of all, reached the FA Vase quarter-finals during Price’s tenure.

Price reached the semi-finals of the Vase and again won Sussex Division Two as assistant manager of Eastbourne United AFC last season.

He said: “I am excited and honoured to be named manager of St Leonards. The plans for the future of not just the senior team, but for all ages is something this town has needed for a long time so to be part of it will be superb.”

Laskey worked alongside Price at Rye and Eastbourne United, and for a short period with Hastings United under-21s earlier this term. He has also managed Sidley United.
