A goal in either half from Jack Aston and Toby Clifford gave the Pirates their third consecutive Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division Two victory, during which time they’ve conceded only once.

Bexhill manager Munday said: “It was really good. I was really pleased with the overall performance, it all clicked. I think Mile Oak are a decent outfit and to be honest the 2-0 scoreline flattered them.

“We beat them to the battle and it was probably our best performance of the season. You very rarely come away with six points from the two games against Mile Oak. They’ll go on picking up points off a lot of the top teams.”

On an extremely windy afternoon at The Polegrove, Bexhill restricted Mile Oak’s potent strike force of Andrew McDowell and Danny Curd to a very limited amount of chances while creating plenty at the other end.

Chris Cumming-Bart lifted a close range effort over the crossbar early on and soon afterwards Andy Garman flashed a ball virtually across the goal-line which nobody was able to get a toe on.

Aston and Clifford dovetailed nicely in central midfield, and it was Aston who gave Bexhill the half time advantage with a great diving header which looped over the goalkeeper from Kevin Barden’s cross .

Bexhill made sure of the points with a well-worked second goal after the break. Clifford side-footed home from eight yards for his first senior goal of the season, although much of the credit must go to Cumming-Bart’s work in the build-up.

The home side had a few other opportunities to add to their tally, notably when substitute Jamie Morgan fired into the side-netting with just the goalkeeper to beat.
