Match preview: Burnley vs Brighton

Spanish star Vicente is rated only 50-50 to make the Brighton squad tomorrow although William Buckley should make his first appearance of the season after seemingly recovering from injury.

Scotland striker Craig Mackail-Smith has travelled north with the Albion squad despite speculation linking him with a £3million move to Premier League Norwich City. Reports suggest that Albion chairman Tony Bloom has turned down the Canaries most recent offer because his departure would leave Gus Poyet seriously short of attacking options.

Poyet himself has remained in Sussex trying to thrash out a host of last-minute deals before travelling up tomorrow to take his place in the dug out.

The manager will be forced into changes whether or not the Albion make any deadline day signings because Craig Noone, who started all three league games so far, has left for Cardiff City in a deal worth £1million.

Andrea Orlandi, shipped in from Swansea City, will be hopeful of making an impact on the Seagulls starting 11 sooner rather than later while the Albion back four is almost certain to remain unchanged – with Wayne Bridge and Bruno having settled in impressively.

Of course, who starts and who is on the bench depends hugely on who Poyet can attract to the club over the next six or seven hours. Among those linked with a move are former Stoke striker Tuncay and current QPR forward Jay Bothroyd.
