Macca heads for Sidley exit

Scott McDonald appears to have left Sidley United ahead of the closing weeks of the season.

The experienced striker has scored nine goals for the Blues since his summer switch from nieghbours Bexhill United despite spending several weeks on the sidelines over Christmas with an ankle injury.

Sidley manager John Lambert said: “Scott McDonald has told me he doesn’t want to play any more. He text me on the Tuesday after the Three Bridges game (on March 3) and he said he would ring me but never did. He’s not enjoying it and obviously he’s made his decision.”

McDonald is the latest attacking player to leave Sussex County Football League Division One club Sidley with Kevin Bird, Casey Ham, Jared Lusted and Terry Payne having switched to Division Two teams in recent weeks.

Lambert said “we had to do something” in response to those departures and it appears as though Kevin Barden, who has played just once since late October, could be coming back for the remaining matches.
