Bexhill United were beaten by a goal from a former Hastings United player-manager tonight (Tuesday).
Sean Ray’s 78th minute strike condemned Bexhill to a 1-0 loss away to Sussex County Football League Division Two leaders Eastbourne United AFC, ending their four-match winning run.
The result leaves Bexhill seven points behind Loxwood - who occupy the third and final promotion place - having played three more matches. Bexhill are the only side to have beaten Eastbourne in the league this season following their come-from-behind 3-2 victory in September’s reverse fixture.
Sussex Division Two top nine (played-points): 1 Eastbourne United AFC 19-48, 2 Haywards Heath Town 21-44, 3 Loxwood 19-42, 4 Broadbridge Heath 18-38, 5 BEXHILL UNITED 22-35, 6 LITTLE COMMON 20-33, 7 Steyning Town 17-30, 8 Wick & Barnham United 18-28, 9 WESTFIELD 18-25.
