Hastings United are facing some defensive worries ahead of an important trip to Leatherhead today (Saturday).

Tom Gilbert is unavailable, Andy Henson is unlikely to be fit and captain Ben Judge has been struggling with a sore neck since Monday night’s 1-0 win over Herne Bay. Rhys Whyborne is considered not quite ready yet.

It’s second versus fourth in Ryman Football League Division One South. Leatherhead are currently two places and three points better off than United, albeit having played two more matches. Leatherhead scored a late equaliser to earn a fully deserved 2-2 draw in September’s reverse fixture at The Pilot Field.

Assuming it goes ahead, it will be Leatherhead’s first home game since their Fetcham Grove ground suffered substantial flood damage over the festive period when the River Mole burst its banks. It will also be United’s first away fixture since the 5-0 drubbing at Ramsgate on Boxing Day.

Elsewhere today, Rye United are due to visit Shoreham in Sussex County Football League Division One. In Division Two, Westfield host Saltdean United, Little Common are away to Rustington and Bexhill United visit Wick & Barnham United.

It’s also a big day for ADA East Sussex Football League leaders Hollington United, who entertain Cowfold in a Sussex Intermediate Challenge Cup quarter-final. News of any postponements, if indeed there are any, will follow later this morning.
