Manager Russell Eldridge two changes to his starting line up with Nick Richardson and Paul Feakins coming in to replace Harvey Greig and Cam Clark. Despite not tasting victory in the league since the opening weekend of the season, the visitors made their attacking intent known in the early stages as Common struggled to keep possession of the ball.

YMCA came closest to breaking the deadlock with a succession of corners, one flashing across the face of goal and another clipping the crossbar. Phil Hawkins was called into action to make a routine save from a curling effort whilst at the other end the YMCA keeper denied Lewis Hole after saving with his feet.

Another goal mouth scramble saw the keeper once again save with his feet before the visitors thought they had been awarded a penalty on the stroke of half time, however, the assistant referee correctly informed the referee that Hawkins had in fact made contact with the ball and a corner kick was awarded.

YMCA began the second period with ten men following the sin bin of their right back for dissent after the half time whistle but Common were unable to make the advantage pay and neither goalkeeper was called into action in the early stages of the second half.

The game became more stretched as the half wore on and Lewis Parsons was on hand to divert a YMCA effort over the bar following a neat pull back. The deadlock was broken fifteen minutes from time when Parsons powered home a header into the top corner of the net following a Kian Moynes free kick.

With the visitors pushing for an equaliser the Commoners were always a threat on the break and the trickery of Harry Saville set up a second goal five minutes from time when he drove into the box before pulling the ball back to James Miriam-Batchelor to slot home.

Squad: Hawkins, Feakins, Weeks, Ward (Greig), Parsons, Eldridge, Moynes, Saville, Hole, Warren (Paul), Richardson (Miriam-Batchleor).
