Leaders make it nine out of nine

St Leonards Social have reached the midway stage of their Macron East Sussex Football League Premier Division season with a 100% record.

Social made it nine league wins out of nine with a 4-0 victory at Sedlescombe Rangers on Saturday. Chris Boyd gave them a narrow half time lead before they upped a gear in the second period to comfortably seal the win. Sean Noble scored from the spot before Sam Richardson and Colton Alleyne-Davis made sure of the points.


Hollington United maintained the pressure at the top with a nailbiting 4-3 home win against Ninfield United, albeit only thanks to the freescoring Shane Ryan netting his second of the game with just four minutes left.

Reece Johnson also bagged two goals for Hollington, while Ninfield were unlucky to return home with nothing after Dominic Sinden, Gary Hempe (penalty) and Ash Elphick kept them in contention during the afternoon.


Rock-a-Nore became the latest victims of Ore Athletic’s improved form and the teams swapped places after Athletic triumphed 1-0.
The decisive moment came on the hour mark when Sam Barratt lashed home the winner following an assist from the returning Tony Barnett.


Peche Hill Select catapulted out of the relegation places following a 3-1 home win against Battle Baptists. Select sailed into a 3-0 lead before the break through a double strike from Connor Robertson and one from Steve Johnson. Baptists did improve after the interval and got an early one back through Dean Boyd, but their indifferent first 45 minutes proved too much to recover from.


Sidley United clambered out of the bottom two in Division One and put opponents Little Chelsea in their place after a tense 4-3 home win. Anthony Briscoe, Adam Day and Mark Funnell put Sidley 3-0 up at half time, but they were grateful to George Carroll’s winner after Little Chelsea got back to 3-3.

The Mountfield United versus Hollington United II game wasn’t played as Hollington couldn’t raise a side, while the Ticehurst versus Icklesham Casuals match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
