Leaders eye instant pick-me-up

United will need to put their John O’Hara League Cup semi-final loss to Three Bridges behind them as they host Ringmer in Sussex County Football League Division One.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat against Bridges, Rye manager Scott Price said: “We’ve just got to pick ourselves up, get three points Saturday and tonight gets forgotten about.

“We’ve not had many disappointments this year and this is obviously one of them. We’ve still got a cup final to look forward to and we’ve still got a chance in the league. There’s still everything to play for.”

Rye are nine points clear of second-placed Lancing having played two extra matches and 11 better off than third-placed Bridges, who have five games in hand.

With Lancing and Bridges due to meet at Culver Road tomorrow, at least one of the pursuers will lose ground if Rye can record a seventh successive league victory.

Price expects energetic midfielder Jack Franklin, pictured, to be fit despite hobbling off towards the end of the Bridges clash. Kick-off at The Salts is 3pm.
