Two Jethro Warren penalties got Westfield back on level terms before Matt Dadswell’s stoppage time strike secured a first victory in five games.

Storrington made their longest trip of the Sussex County Football League Division Two season without a single substitute, yet opened the scoring inside two minutes when John Langridge headed home from a left wing free kick.

The visitors just about survived a Warren free kick, but moments later a well-delivered corner from the same player was glanced home at the near post by Dadswell for 1-1.

The visitors retook the lead when Iain Jarvie’s free kick was parried by Westfield goalkeeper Carl Morris and Rob Matthews reacted quickest to the rebound. Five minutes later it was 3-1. Ayres got away down the Storrington left and skipped past Tom Archer before firing home at the near post.

Westfield had a couple of penalty appeals turned down in the first half, but the referee did point to the spot in the seventh minute of the second period after Zach Ferris was bundled over by Callum Linssen. Warren buried the spot-kick into the bottom corner.

Four minutes later Westfield were awarded another penalty. This time Mike Booth was fouled as he poked the ball across from the byeline on the left and Warren converted the spot-kick into the same corner.

Westfield were the only side going to win it thereafter and it was just a question of whether or not they could conjure up a fourth goal. Dadswell won it for Westfield by turning home a miss-hit Curtis Coombes shot as the visitors’ appeals for offside fell on deaf ears.
