Hollington United on top against Cuckfield Rangers
Hollington came out on top after a closely fought game against Cuckfield.
The first half was quite slow with neither teams really creating any chances. However as the half went on, Hollington started to look dangerous down the right hand side with Sam White and James Hull combining nicely to create good opportunities. Hollington became more dominant by the minute but couldn't find the goal that would give them the lead.
Only 10 minutes into the second half Hollington got their first goal of the game after Sam White played in a dangerous ball and Cuckfield's player headed it into his own net.
The away side continued to put pressure onto Cuckfield's defence and in the 66th minute Hollington doubled their lead.
A freekick was looped into the box and it met Dom Clarke's head, the striker nodded it down to James Hull who just managed to tuck it past the keeper. In the 89th minute Glenn Woodhurst was shown a second yellow for a challenge on the left hand side but Hollington saw the game out well and kept a clean sheet and a well deserved three points.
Scott Price said: "Very pleased to come away with the three points and a clean sheet after a very difficult week.
"With news of Elliot missing for at least eight weeks and no Sean Ray were also dealt with the blow that skipper Danny Andrews would be missing for probably the season after needing surgery on his knee.
"This alongside no Alex Jegorovs, Pat Willis, Absolom Wawarne, Dan Kealey and Ben Radley we were really up against it.
"To be missing eight players at any level of football is a problem but for us with no second team and no link with Hastings Utd to call upon, its been a very difficult start trying to get 11 players on the pitch every week.
"But somehow we find ourselves with 15 points out of 18. Our principles haven't changed and won't change, with our objectives it's still about getting the clubs identity back and making sure we understand the DNA of this football club."
