Hastings United’s FA Cup fate will be decided by a penalty shoot out after the match finished level at 1-1 at the end of extra time.
United had the better of the first period and went closest to restoring their lead when Zac Attwood hooked the all the goalwards from close range at a corner only to see it blocked on the line seven minutes into extra time.
Harrogate edged the second period and substitute Liam Hardy shot just wide of the far post after cutting in from the right past two defenders.
Hastings just about managed to clear a dangerous ball into the six yard box moments later and Dee Okojie made a brilliant run down the left before teeing up Jack Dixon. He chose not to shoot when well placed and only succeeded into dribbling the ball behind for a goal kick.
As players became tired, play became scrappy and penalites became an inevitability.
