Hastings United v Harrogate Town: half-time

After a promising start to the first half, it was very much Harrogate who finished the stronger in the second period as they had six shots at goal in the first 45 minutes compared to the East Sussex’s side’s solitary effort.

Hastings goalkeeper Armstrong-Ford was only really required to make one save of note when he pushed Luke Dean’s shot wide for a corner.

The North Yorkshire side made much of the running, creating numerous chances. Tom Platt, who scored Harrogate’s goal in the first meeting between the clubs, headed wide of the far post.

Luke Dean then had a header in the area which deflected wide off Hastings’ player-manager Sean Ray while Paul Beesley saw a header drift just wide of the near post from a left wing cross.

Chiv Chilaka was inches away from making contact for Harrogate with a diving header late on when well placed in front of goal and Dean was off target from 25 yards.

A superb tackle by Ray denied Beesley a run a goal, although Hastings did finish the half strongly and were left frustrated when the referee blew his whistle for the break just as the hosts were in a promising position and about to take a corner.

Officials announced at half-time that the crowd for this evening’s match is 4,028.
