Hastings game likely to be on

Hastings United’s game away to Concord Rangers tomorrow (Saturday) is expected to go ahead.

Concord, who are based in Canvey Island, posted a message on social network site Twitter today saying: “Our game will definitely go ahead tomorrow barring a deluge overnight! Forecast is dry!”

The Essex club lies fourth in the Ryman Football League Premier Division, while United are fourth-from-bottom. The reverse fixture during December ended in a 2-2 draw and the sides are due to meet at Concord in a League Cup semi-final later this month.

Daniel East, signed this week on a month’s loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, is due to make his debut in the United goal, while player-manager Sean Ray returns from a two-match ban. Danny Ellis is battling for fitness and Bailo Camara is out through work.

Elsewhere, Rye United’s scheduled visit from East Grinstead Town in Sussex County Football League Division One is in doubt with surface water laying on parts of the pitch at The Salts today.

In fact, the club Tweeted today: “Rye v E. Grinstead not officially off yet but given that there’s a Royal Navy Frigate and a pod of dolphins in the goalmouth...”

Sidley United, whose Gullivers pitch also had puddles on it today, have arranged a 9.30am pitch inspection ahead of their scheduled visit from Arundel in the same division.

Further updates on whether the games are on or off will follow in the morning.
