Hastings to face strong Crawley side

The U’s will travel to League Two outfit Crawley Town in round two of the Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup and Crawley have this morning announced a strong squad.

As reported by crawleytownfc.com, 15 of the 16 Crawley players have played in the first team this season with triallist defender Max Kilman making up the squad.

Crawley manager Mark Yates said the Sussex Senior Cup is important to the club, and that the Red Devils will be fully respecting the competition and opposition.

United boss Garry Wilson must decide whether to go with his strongest possible side or shuffle his pack bearing in mind the amount of games his squad continues to face. Sam Cole has now completed his two-match suspension.

The U’s are in decent form having won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions (including penalty shoot-outs), the latest of which was a 1-0 success at home to Chatham Town in the league on Saturday.

Tonight’s clash will be the first of three consecutive cup fixtures for United, who have lost just one of their nine matches in the various knockout competitions so far this term. Two more cup wins for United, incidentally, would mean them playing 60 games in all competitions this season.

United and Crawley were regular rivals in the old Dr Martens League, but the U’s now play their football four levels below Crawley in Ryman League Division One South.

Kick-off at the Checkatrade.com Stadium is 7.30pm, and admission is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions, which includes a programme available at the turnstiles.
