Gould at double in Sidley win

Sidley United picked up their first points since January on a sun-drenched Saturday afternoon.

Two second half goals from Chris Gould – his first for the club – gave the Blues a 2-0 win at home to Arundel in Sussex County Football League Division One.

Elsewhere, two goals late in the first half and two more in the second condemned Little Common to a 4-0 loss at home to Division Two champions-elect East Preston.

See Friday’s Bexhill Observer for full reports on both matches. Rye United, Bexhill United and Westfield were fixtureless due to being well advanced with their games.

Three Bridges closed to within eight points of Division One leaders Rye with three games in hand following a 2-1 success away to mid-table Crowborough Athletic.

Westfield remain fifth-bottom of Division Two and five points above the bottom two as the three sides beneath them that were playing, including Common, all lost.
