The former Fulham and Leicester City striker featured five times during his month with Ryman Football League Premier Division outfit United, scoring once in the Sussex Senior Cup quarter-final victory over Crawley Town.

“It didn’t seem financially viable to keep him,” United player-manager Sean Ray admitted. “Elvis does not drive and making travel arrangements for him was proving to be difficult.”

Ray added that he will be looking to add to his squad ahead of Sunday’s transfer deadline. “We’re working hard on bringing players in, but other teams are in the same boat so it’s not easy,” he said.

United’s reserves are in Suburban League Premier B action today (Good Friday) at home to North Greenford United. Kick-off at The Pilot Field in Paul Tuppenney’s first match at the helm following the recent resignation of Glyn White is 3pm.

Pub manager Danny Keane will be riding from London to Paris in aid of the Meningitis Trust during June. To help with the fundraising, he has organised a football match between his select 14 and a Bexhill Rowing Club team.

The match will be played at The Polegrove tonight with a 7.45pm kick-off. The bar will be open and there will be no charge to get in, although any donations towards the charity will be greatly appreciated. Those connected wish to thank Bexhill United FC for its support in hosting the game.
