Double celebration for ace Cruttwell

Westfield’s goalkeeper had a double cause for celebration on the county stage.

Matt Cruttwell was part of the Sussex FA team which won South East Counties U18 Youth Championship and was presented with a cap in recognition of 15 appearances.

Sussex won all of their six matches in the regional competition throughout the season to finish three points ahead of runners-up Middlesex.

Cruttwell produced an outstanding performance in the crucial 2-1 win away to Middlesex on April 1 which effectively clinched the title.

Needing only to avoid losing by 11 goals in their final fixture, Sussex came from 3-0 down at half time to win 4-3 at home to the AFA on Sunday, last week.

Sussex also won through two rounds in the FA County Youth Cup and the big kicking left-footed Cruttwell has been an ever-present in the squad.

Cruttwell has also attended trials with League Two champions Swindon Town, as well as being Westfield’s number one in Sussex County League Division Two.
