Debutants shine as Hollington United maintain unbeaten start with Lindfield win

Hollington looked to maintain their unbeaten run as they faced Lindfield on Saturday.

It didn't take Hollington long to score after Matt Maclean lobbed the keeper in the second minute.

Although , soon after Dan Andrews was tumbled to the ground resulting in a nasty knee injury. The skipper was forced off the field. Hollington remained on top and just ten minutes later, Matt Maclean scored his second goal after a mix up between Lindfield's Goalie and captain led to him slot it into an empty goal.

The game became quite scrappy with Lindfield desperately in search of a goal, but in the 35th minute a well worked team move led to a simple tap in for Dom Clarke.

The second half was even more physical than the first with the game threatening to boil over but Hollington remained professional. The home side extended their lead when new signing Wes Tate controlled the ball nicely in the box and tucked it past the keeper.

Manager Scott Price said: "'I could not have asked anymore of the players today.

"We knew they'd be a big and very physical but we dealt with everything they threw at us. And with the quality we have in the final third I knew we would cause them problems. Dommy again was outstanding.

"Having known him for a long time I don't think I've seen him be so dominant than he has been in the last two games.

"Good to see Matty Maclean with two and Wes Tate on the scoresheet too on their debuts, they'll certainly bring that bit of quality in the final third which showed today. On the downside was losing skipper Danny Andrews to what looks like quite a serious knee injury."
