Common, Rye & Sidley all off

All the rain of the past week has resulted in three of today’s (Saturday) senior football matches in the area being postponed.

Rye United’s scheduled visit from East Grinstead Town and Sidley United versus Arundel in Sussex County Football League Division One are both off, as is Little Common against Loxwood in Division Two.

Hastings United’s trip to Concord Rangers in the Ryman Football League Premier Division goes ahead, though, and the Sussex Division Two matches between Midhurst & Easebourne and Bexhill United, and Oakwood and Westfield are also on.

The reserves of Hastings will also be in action at home to Carshalton Athletic in a Suburban League Cup first round second leg clash. The first leg, incidentally, took place some five months ago! Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 3pm as the U’s seek to overturn a 5-2 deficit.

Rye have played just one league match since December 1, while Sidley have played only one game of any description since December 11. Neither side has yet reached the midway point in its league programme and we now only have 12 Saturdays remaining until the end of the season.
