Common reach county cup final

Little Common Football Club’s second team has reached the final of a county knockout competition.

The Commoners booked their place in the Macron Store Sussex County Football League Reserve Section Challenge Cup decider with a 1-0 win at home to Wick & Barnham United on Saturday.

Stuart Collier’s second half strike was decisive for a Common side which finished ninth in Reserve Section (East) against a Wick team which was fourth in Reserve Section (West).

Common’s reward is a final showdown against Reserve Section (Premier) outfit Mile Oak at Eastbourne United AFC on Tuesday May 5. Kick-off is 7.30pm.

Common have won five matches in total to get to the final, all of them against West Sussex clubs. Prior to Wick & Barnham they beat Clymping 2-1, Ferring 11-2, Sidlesham 2-0 and Pagham 4-3.

Common have won all of their last six matches in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and conceding just two.

Common’s third team, meanwhile, secured a top three finish in Macron East Sussex Football League Division Four with a 2-2 draw away to champions Peasmarsh United on Saturday. Will Spice and Connor Jackson scored the goals.
