Hole finished seven clear of the next most prolific marksman in Division Two with 31 league goals (34 in all competitions).

And unless Division One’s top goalgetter, Horsham YMCA striker Nick Sullivan, scores a hat-trick in their last game of the campaign tomorrow (Saturday), Hole will be the top scorer in the league’s six divisions. He also scored as many league goals as the entire Seaford Town team.

Common player-manager Russell Eldridge said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for Lewis. He’s a top player and his goals have been invaluable for us, but I know he’s very thankful to all the boys in the team as well.”

It’s also the first time ever that Common, who finished fourth in Division Two, have finished as the highest placed club in Bexhill.
