Comeback win puts Common top

Common scored four times in the last 20 minutes to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 victory at home to Haywards Heath Town on Saturday, inflicting a first league defeat on their opponents since August 2012.

Eric Mvale fired past Richie Gray to give the visitors a half time lead and although Lewis Hole headed against the crossbar early in the second period, Heath went two-up in the 68th minute when a Mike Williamson cross was diverted past Gray off Common defender Zack McEniry.

Heath missed a great chance to kill the game off two minutes later and Common gave themselves hope when Jamie Crone raced through before placing an effort beyond the away goalkeeper. Common were then back on level terms as Adam Smith set up Hole for his 10th league goal of the season.

Common went in search of a winner and were rewarded seven minutes from time when substitute Jared Lusted cut in from the right and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net. Common completed a remarkable turnaround in the dying minutes when Hole prodded home from close range.

Elsewhere in the division, Westfield made it four games unbeaten in all competitions with a creditable 1-1 draw at Mile Oak. Jethro Warren gave Westfield a half time lead from the penalty spot, but Jamie Watts levelled for Oak around 15 minutes from time.

After successive come-from-behind 3-2 victories, Bexhill United suffered their first home defeat of the season with a 1-0 loss at home to Wick & Barnham United. The only goal came in the first four minutes and was scored by Ash Harper.
