Hastings will entertain AFC Sudbury in FA Trophy second round qualifying on Saturday November 2, while Rye will host Newhaven or Cove in the FA Vase second round proper on Saturday November 16.

It will be the third successive round that Hastings will be playing at The Pilot Field and their stretch of consecutive home games - which currently stands at six - should run into double figures by the time they next hit the road.

Hastings currently sit second in Ryman Football League Division One South and their next opponents are seventh in the equivalent-standing Division One North. Sudbury, however, did pull off a fine 5-0 win over Division One South high-flyers Crawley Down Gatwick on Saturday.

Hastings somehow turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 victory at home to an aggrieved Horsham side in a game featuring three red cards. It’s only the second time that Hastings have won two FA Trophy matches in the same season since 1998 (when the club was known as Hastings Town).

John Maggs’s side has picked up £5,200 from the FA’s prize-fund for those two victories and a further £3,250 will be at stake if Hastings can see off their Essex-based adversaries at the start of next month.

Rye, meanwhile, will await the winners of tomorrow night’s replay between fellow Sussex County League Division One team Newhaven and a Cove side which lies 15th in the Combined Counties League Premier Division.

The original meeting between Newhaven and Cove ended 4-4 after extra-time at Ford Road on Saturday. Rye have been exempt until this stage as a result of their run to the last 32 of last season’s competition.
