United scraped into the final Ryman Football League Division One South play-off place of fifth after they won 1-0 at home to Crawley Down Gatwick yesterday (Saturday) and rivals Burgess Hill Town conceded a 90th minute equaliser to draw 2-2 away to Sittingbourne having led 2-0 with less than 20 minutes to go.

Folkestone moved up to second after Leatherhead were handed a six-point deduction for a registration irregularity. Leatherhead will host Guernsey in the other play-off semi-final on Tuesday with the winners of either tie going head-to-head in the final on Saturday.

Incidentally, the one-point deduction United were facing has yet to be reflected on the league table, although it won’t make any difference to the final positions anyway because the U’s finished two ahead of Burgess Hill.
