Big night of football

A big night of football lies in prospect with four of the area’s six senior clubs in action.

Hastings United will seek to boost their improving survival hopes in the Premier Division of the Ryman League when they travel to AFC Hornchurch.

The U’s sit three points clear of the relegation zone in the final safe spot of fifth-from-bottom having won their last two games, while Hornchurch are one place outside the play-offs in sixth.

Elsewhere, Rye United will bid to reach the Sussex County League John O’Hara League Cup final when they take on Rustington at Peacehaven & Telscombe FC.

Division One high-flyers Rye intend to field a virtually full strength side against Division Two outfit Rustington, who fought out a goalless draw with Bexhill United in the league on Saturday.

Talking of Bexhill, they will host Little Common in the second Hastings & District FA Senior Cup semi-final. The winners will face Sidley United. Kick-off in all three matches is 7.45pm.
