The Pirates will travel to Mile Oak in round two of the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One Challenge Cup tonight (Wednesday) seeking to preserve their interest in the 2015/16 knockout competitions.

Bexhill have lost all of their five cup ties since an excellent FA Cup victory over Loxwood back in August and should that trend continue tonight, they will only have the league to play for during the remainder of the campaign.

The teams have already met once this season and fought out a 1-1 draw in Bexhill’s first home game of the term last month. Ben Phipps gave Bexhill a half time lead only for Oak to equalise after the break.

Indeed only goal difference separates them in the table. Mile Oak are 10th and Bexhill 11th, and both have taken 11 points from their first eight league fixtures.

Bexhill are itching to end an eight-match winless run in all competitions which includes six defeats, but they will again be below strength tonight, not helped by the relatively long journey and early 7.15pm kick-off time.

At stake for the winners is a quarter-final trip to Oakwood or Lingfield, who will contest their second round encounter next Tuesday night.
