Bexhill urged to grow up

Misfiring Bexhill United need to grow up, according to joint manager Darrol Parris.

Bexhill have lost their last two Sussex County Football League Division Two matches and conceded seven goals in the process.

Parris said: “We need to grow up I think. To be fair we’re all learning, but we’re going to have to learn fast if we want to stay in the top few of the table.”

Conceding from dead ball situations has been a particular problem for Bexhill, who lost 3-1 at Southwick on Saturday having gone down 4-0 away to Hailsham Town the previous Monday.

“I’m not picking on the defence, but as a team we’ve got to learn how to defend better at set-pieces,” continued Parris, who admits to feeling sorry for the goalkeepers. “We need to become a team that’s hard to beat.”

Bexhill lie in the bottom half of the table with two wins and three defeats from five outings ahead of the trip to a fifth-placed Storrington side which has picked up 13 points from seven matches tomorrow (Saturday).

Dominic Clarke, Danny Ellis, Andy Garman and Dan Hill are expected to be fit despite struggling with niggles, although Ellis is the biggest doubt. Jack Aston is likely to be out for four weeks with knee ligament trouble.

Nathan Harding begins a three-match ban for his sending-off against Seaford Town. The club is on Twitter, meanwhile, at bexhillunitedfc and has a Facebook page entitled Bexhill United FC.
