Bexhill boss Parris keen to improve

Bexhill United manager Darrol Parris is determined to better last season’s performance on the eve of the new campaign.

The Polegrove-based club will begin its 2012/13 Sussex County Football League Division Two programme at Southwick on Saturday having finished seventh last time out.

Parris said: “I’m not going to say I’m going out to get promotion, but I want to finish higher than seventh. I’d like to finish as high as possible and have a decent cup run. I’d like to win the Division Two cup at least.

“I want to win as many games as possible and see where we finish. If you look on these forums we’re not one of the fancied sides in the league, but I’m looking forward to being in the top part of the table.”

More players have come in than gone out over the summer. The departure of Chris Agutter and Dominic Clarke to Sidley United will be a blow, but the likes of Steve Morris and Lewis Parsons should prove good acquisitions.

“I think the squad is better than what we had last year,” Parris went on. “Those that left we’ve covered and we’ve added a couple to it. All over the park I think I’ve got competition and people that can play in other positions.”

Bexhill goalkeeper Gavin Bourne is suspended for the game against a Southwick side which finished eighth last time out, Andy Garman is struggling with a hip injury and Parsons is away.
