Another double bill of football

More midweek football is on the agenda tonight (Wednesday) with three of the area’s senior teams in action.

Rye United will entertain Crowborough Athletic in Sussex County Football League Division One, while Sidley United and Westfield will go head-to-head in the second Hastings & District FA Senior Cup semi-final.

Fresh off their 5-2 victory at home to Arundel on Saturday, Rye will be looking to cut the gap to leaders Pagham to five points with a win against an 11th-placed Crowborough side they’ve already beaten once this term.

Luke Woodley will return from suspension, but Sam Adams still has two games to run on his ban. Joe Winchester is back from holiday and is expected to take over the goalkeeping duties from manager Scott Price. Kick-off is 7.30pm.

Buoyed by their weekend win at AFC Uckfield in Division One, Sidley will begin their quest for a third successive Hastings Senior Cup against Division Two neighbours Westfield.

Lewis Hole and Marc Munday begin suspensions for a Sidley side which has knocked out Westfield in both of the last two seasons. Kick-off is 7.45pm.
