Albion XI heading to The Polegrove

Bexhill United have fixed up a glamour friendly against a ‘Brighton & Hove Albion Ex-Pros & Guests XI’.

The match will take place on Wednesday April 18 and it will mark the official opening of Bexhill’s new floodlights at The Polegrove.

One man who will definitely be playing for Brighton is Gary Hart, whose project it is to assemble the Albion side.

Thirty-five-year-old Hart, pictured, was a Seagulls player from 1998-2011, making 373 appearances and scoring 45 goals.

An auction is being run for someone to manage the Brighton team for the evening - a prize which will include delivering a team-talk in the changing rooms - and two people to play a half each for the Seagulls.

Anybody wishing to place a bid should email [email protected] or telephone Andy Stoodley - Albion’s football and sports participation officer for East Sussex - on 07818 434064.

Monies raised from the auction will go to Bexhill United and Albion in the Community, the charitable arm of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.

There will be some fun games involving parents and children before the main event, and other attractions including dancing girls and a penalty shoot-out. The match will kick-off at 7.30pm and gates will open at 5pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £2 for children.
