Agutter and Rose make their move

Kevin Rose looks to be on his way to local rivals Rye United, Chris Agutter has returned from Little Common and Terry Payne has attracted interest from Sussex County League leaders Crawley Down.

Rye issued a seven-day approach for Rose on Wednesday, last week, and Sidley manager John Lambert conceded seven days later that the bulky defender/forward, who hasn’t played since October because of injury, is moving on.

Ball-playing midfielder Agutter was a key figure in Sidley’s promotion from Division Two last season, but left in October citing his frustration at a perceived long ball approach following a loss of players during the summer.

Agutter went to Common a while later, but watched Sidley’s game at home to Three Bridges on Tuesday night and is expected to play for the reserves tonight (Thursday).

Crawley Down have issued a seven-day approach for leading scorer Payne, who has plundered 15 goals for Sidley this season despite beginning the campaign with Bexhill United.

Payne, who attends university and lives in London, was stretchered off towards the end of the Three Bridges match with a knee injury, but hasn’t ruled himself out of being fit to face Ringmer on Saturday.
