FOOTBALL: Shoreham end Arundel's winning run

ARUNDEL Football Club's nine-game winning run came to an end at Shoreham on Tuesday evening.

Mullets were without strikers Gary Norgate (suspended), Howard Neighbour (thigh injury), Scott Tipper (knee ligaments, out for the season), and Matt Huckett (returning to fitness), and Shoreham got the only goal midway through the second half.

Owen Callaghan cut in from the right and angled a 16-yarder into the top corner.

Arundel thought they had equalised with 10 minutes left, but Stuart Hack's header from Mike Huckett's free kick was ruled out for offside.

In the first half, Huckett had a one-on-one opening saved by Shoreham keeper Michael Hunter, and Hack headed a Matt Axell corner against a post.

Mullets assistant manager Simon Butler said: "We didn't think there was anything wrong with Stuart's disallowed header.

"It was a pretty dire game but we deserved at least a point from it."
