FOOTBALL: 10-man Wick lose at Selsey

WICK boss Carl Stabler was pleased with his side's performance on Tuesday in their 2-1 defeat at Selsey in County League Division 1.

Wick had Neil Murfin sent-off for a foul after 30 minutes, and Stabler said: "It was a very harsh red card, but we were still disappointed not to win.

"We played very well and should have got something, but are having a bit of bad luck at the moment."

Selsey went ahead on eight minutes when Callum Britton netted, but Steve Davies, Scott Murfin and Chris Clark all missed excellent chances for Wick, before Neil Murfin was dismissed.

Wick also had a penalty appeal turned down when Davies went down, before Davies' shot was well-saved by former-Wick keeper Steve Phillips, and Ben Torode tapped in the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Phillips then made excellent stops to deny Clark, Davies and Torode in the second half before Selsey got their winner with 15 minutes left.

Wick keeper Anthony Ender tried to take the ball past Selsey's Ross Woolf, but lost possession to him and Woolf ran through to slot into the empty net.
