Cricket star Harry Finch has helped England reach the quarter-finals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
England won two of their three matches to finish second in group D and will face group A winners India in the last eight on Saturday.
Hastings Priory talent Finch scored 49 as England posted 315-8 from their 50 overs en route to a comfortable victory over UAE last Friday. The hosts were bowled out for 102 in reply to lose by 213 runs.
Again opening the batting, Finch made 24 in an England total of 230-9 against Sri Lanka in Dubai on Sunday. He also took a catch in the field, but the opposition scraped home by one wicket with seven balls to spare.
Finch, who turned 19 last week, hit 30 against New Zealand in Dubai yesterday (Tuesday). England totalled 229-8 before dismissing the Kiwis for 114 in the 37th over to win by 115 runs.
Sussex County Cricket Club professional Finch, from St Leonards, wrote on social network site Twitter: “Awesome win against the Kiwis! Buzzing for quarter final on Sat.”
